Welcome to the School District of Oakfield
Our Roots Run Deep - Our Branches Stretch Far
Dear Families and Community Members of the School District of Oakfield,
Welcome to the start of the 2015-2016 school year! We are off to a wonderful start, despite the warm days that almost always tend to be a part of the beginning of a school year.
We welcome back our students, many new students and their families, our staff, and a few new staff members! Please watch for new staff introductions in our local monthly publication, The Oakfield Difference.
This year we will be using our new Strategic Plan to guide our practices and decision-making. Throughout last year, students, staff, families, community members, school board members, and the administrative team participated in the development of the five year plan, as well as created a district logo and Mission Statement to establish our purpose and direction. We are so appreciative of the efforts given by so many to participate in this process. This fall we will be sharing the specifics of the plan with the community. The principals at each level will work with their building teams to develop site level plans based on the District’s Strategic Plan.
This is the Mission Statement that the committee developed and the School Board approved.
The School District of Oakfield is committed to…
- Planting the seeds of knowledge
- Nurturing the whole child
- Achieving academic excellence
- Enhancing educational opportunities
......while being deeply rooted in strong community partnerships
I hope that you have had an opportunity to see some of the facility projects that were completed at the Middle School/High School building. We are pleased with the improvements made in the gym with the new floor and the bleachers, the flooring in the hallways and cafeteria, the new lockers, and upgrades to the agriculture program’s greenhouse. The Middle School/High School building is 52 years old. We feel we have an obligation to take good care of our facilities and provide the best environment for teaching and learning. We will continue to identify and secure funding to address the ongoing needs of our buildings. We will always want your ideas and input as we explore our next steps to keep a well-maintained school district!
Best wishes to a year filled with learning, collaboration, and excitement!
