Meet Mr. Rickert
Welcome to my website. This is my 15h year teaching in the Oakfield School District. The first eight years were as a Third Grade Teacher, the next six years were in Fourth Grade and this is my first year teaching Middle School Social Studies. The year prior to working here full time, I spent a semester as an intern in Mr. Schepp's Fifth Grade classroom and another semester working as a substitute teacher in the district. In addition to teaching, I am fortunate to have coached different baseball and football teams for the Oakfield Middle School/High School. I love working in the Oakfield School District and have been known to refer to my position as my "dream job". The students, parents, and staff in this district are unbelievable and make it a pleasure to come to school every day!
I took a much longer process to becoming a teacher than most. I originally graduated from UW-Whitewater with a degree in Social Work. After graduation, I worked for 2 years as a family counselor at Lutheran Social Services, in Beaver Dam. I began working for the Department of Corrections as a Probation/Parole Agent and worked for 13 years, split between Milwaukee and West Bend. I attended Marian University's Alternative Teacher Certification program at nights and weekends, where I received my teaching license. After I started working full time at Oakfield, I went back to Marian University and received my Master's in Technology.
My wife, Tricia, and I have two sons: Collin is a teacher in Howard and Nathan is in school at Moraine Park for technology.
Feel free to come and visit us!
