A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Hello Oakfield Family,
I’m excited to become the new MS/HS Principal at Oakfield. This opportunity is one that I look forward to diving into and experiencing with all of you. With our deep roots, I truly believe that we are well poised to spread our branches even further.
I come to Oakfield with a diverse background in both education and private industry. My professional history, while not typical for many educators, has helped me truly find and follow my passion in education.
Working in private industry for over a decade has allowed me to understand the needs of industry, as well as to develop leadership skills on a global scale. While working with both large and small global companies was exciting, it was not nearly as rewarding as seeing students find success in new things they are learning. Thus, I was drawn to education.
I have been involved in education for the past seventeen years. Working as a business teacher offering courses from introduction to business all the way through college level accounting, finance, and economics. In addition to teaching, I served as the dean of students and culture for the past eight years at my previous district.
My passion for education and skillset in administration/leadership is what drew me to becoming a principal. The Oakfield community and commitment to education is what drew me to Oakfield MS/HS. The warmth, friendly atmosphere, and compassion of a tight knit community is what drew me to Oakfield.
On a personal level, my wife Christie and I will be celebrating our twenty-fourth anniversary this year. Our daughter Emma will be attending UW Stevens Point as a freshman this fall. Together, we are going back to my roots, building a new home on the farm that I grew up on in Rubicon.
I’m looking forward to getting to know our students, parents, and community members through the upcoming months. If at any point you have any questions, concerns, or just wish to learn more about me or Oakfield MS/HS, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Best Regards,
John Odenwald
