Parent Interviews, Student Interviews, Instruments, Etc.
Formal recruiting includes the following...
1. Instrument Introductions
Mrs. Mohr will show and play each instrument
and talk about Oakfield's band program on March 12th
2. Instrument Fitting
Students will have a 15 minute "appointment" the week of
March 18th to try a few instruments!
3. Commitment!
*Email or phone Mrs. Mohr by Friday, April 26th, so she knows if your child will be in band
and what instrument s/he will be learning.
*Submit Summer School Registration by Tuesday, April 30th.
*Submit the Middle School's form with the proper music class selection(s).
A great way to help your child decide what instrument to play is to
talk about what looks like fun and sounds cool.
After that, you can check out my pages linked on this site.
I have compiled lists of
some professional musicians and included some links to hear the
instruments. (You could also search YouTube and listen to children.
This way you know what to expect in your first years of band.)
It's always a great time to have your student participate in band! If
you would like information on how to get started, please contact
Mrs. Mohr by email or phone - bmohr@oakfield.k12.wi.us or
(920) 583-3146 ext. 3068
Music Notes:
"Music education can be a positive force on all aspects of a child's
life, particularly on their academic success. Given the impact music
can have on our children's education, we should support every effort
to bring music into their classrooms."
